Dear colleague,
I would like to inform you about the 2nd International Conference on Mechanics of Solids that will take place in Porto, Portugal, 30-31 October 2024 (www.fe.up.pt/ms2024). The conference venue is the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), which offers excellent facilites for high quality scientific interactions. FEUP is located in the town of Porto, in the Northern region of Portugal. Porto is a beautiful and lively city, steeped in history and rich in great experiences. With its magnificent location by the Atlantic coast, Porto is the city of the world famous Port Wine and the River Douro.
This conference is held every year. The conference is chaired by António Ferreira and Lucas F. M. da Silva. The focus is on the mechanics of deformable solids, dynamics of particles and rigid bodies. The conference objective is to disseminate the last developments in the field of solid mechanics in a friendly way. Papers related to basic mechanics theory as well as more applied technological aspects are welcome.
The scientific committee includes: Afzal Suleman (University of Victoria, Canada), Alireza Akhavan-Safar (INEGI, Portugal), Andreas Oechsner (Esslingen University, Germany), Aurelio L. Araujo (University of Lisbon, Portugal), Badri Prasad Patel (Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India), Cristóvão M. Mota Soares (University of Lisbon, Portugal), Eduardo Marques (INEGI, Portugal), Erasmo Carrera (Politecnico di Torino, Italy), Fernando Fraternali (University of Salerno, Italy), Gaetano Giunta (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, Luxembourg), Jianqiao Ye (Lancaster University, UK), Luca Susmel (The University of Sheffield, UK), Luigi Solazzi (Università degli Studi di Brescia, Italy), Łukasz Sadowski (Wrocław University of Science Technology, Poland), Marcelo A. Trindade (University of São Paulo, Brazil), Naksoo Kim (Sogang University, Korea), Nicholas Fantuzzi (University of Bologna, Italy), Robert Adams (University of Bristol, UK), Sarp Adali (University of KwaZulu-Natal, New Zealand), Sushil Kumar Tomar (Panjab University, India), Xuefeng Yao (Tsinghua University, China).
Authors who wish to make a presentation (oral or poster) are requested to submit a short abstract (one single A4 page possibly with a diagram and references) in English, by 17 May 2024. The abstracts should be sent electronically to lucas@fe.up.pt. Indicate in the email if you want oral or poster presentation.
