Dear colleague,

I would like to inform you about the 3rd International Conference on Science and Technology Education STE 2022 that will take place in Porto, Portugal, 6-7 October 2022 (Link: www.fe.up.pt/ste2022). The conference venue is the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) , which offers excellent facilities for high quality scientific interactions. FEUP is located in the town of Porto in the Northern region of Portugal. Porto is a beautiful and lively city, steeped in history and rich in great experiences. With its magnificent location by the Atlantic coast, Porto is the city of the world famous Port Wine and the River Douro.

This conference is held every year in Porto. The conference is chaired by Lucas F. M. da Silva and co-chaired by António Ferreira (University of Porto, Portugal). The focus is on education in science and technology. The conference will provide an international forum for the sharing, dissemination and discussion of research, experience and perspectives across a wide range of teaching and learning issues. The conference welcomes abstracts/papers related to the following topics:

• science and technology epistemologies (what makes science and technology thinking and knowledge),


• science and technology learning mechanisms (how people develop knowledge and competencies),


• science and technology learning systems (institutional practices),


• science and technology diversity and inclusiveness (how society in general contributes to science and technology processes and products), and


• science and technology assessment (development and use of assessment methods, instruments, and metrics).

Authors who wish to make a presentation (oral or poster) are requested to submit a short abstract (one single A4 page possibly with a diagram and references) in English, by 29 April 2022. The abstracts should be sent electronically to lucas@fe.up.pt. Indicate in the email if you want oral or poster presentation. The abstract template can be downloaded from the conference web site (Link: www.fe.up.pt/ste2022).

Conference proceedings with the accepted abstracts will be available at the registration.

The full papers will be considered for publication in special issues of:

• the International Journal of Mechanical Engineering Education (SAGE),


• the U.P. Journal of Engineering (University of Porto),


• the Journal on Teaching Engineering (University of Porto),


• and in a book of the book series Proceedings in Engineering Mechanics - Research, Technology and Education (SPRINGER) (provided they meet the journals standard).

The full papers (not compulsory) should be sent to the e-mail lucas@fe.up.pt before the 6th of October 2022. The text should be in single column format and double line spacing.
