Dear colleague,

I would like to inform you that the 2nd International Conference on Industrial Applications of Adhesives 2022 will take place in Carvoeiro, Algarve (Portugal) 3-4 March 2022 (www.fe.up.pt/iaa2022). The conference venue is the 5 stars hotel Tivoli Carvoeiro   which offers excellent facilities for high quality scientific interactions. The Algarve is the southernmost region of continental Portugal. The region administrative centre is the city of Faro where the region's international airport is located. Tourism and related activities are extensive and make up the bulk of the Algarve's economy. Carvoeiro, where is located the hotel of the conference, is 45 minutes away from the airport.

The conference is chaired by me and co-chaired by Prof Bob Adams (University of Oxford, UK), Prof Chiaki Sato (Tokyo Institute of Technology) and Prof Klaus Dilger (Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany). The focus will be on applications of adhesive bonding in the industry such as automotive, aeronautic, railway, marine, energy, electronics, etc. The idea is to bring together the adhesive makers and the adhesive users to exchange experiences and facilitate potential synergies and partnerships. You have in attachment the programme of the 1st International Conference on Industrial Applications of Adhesives IAA 2020 (www.fe.up.pt/iaa2020) for you to have an idea of the type of participants and themes treated in IAA conferences. It is still possible to participate in IAA 2020 (see registration at https://www.congressospco. abreu.pt/IAA2020-36693.aspx).

The scientific committee includes Andreas Lutz (Dupont, Switzerland), Eduardo Marques (INEGI, Portugal), Eugenio Dragoni (Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Italy), Ewen Kellar (The Welding Institute, UK), Francisca Arán-Ais (INESCOP Innovation and Technology Centre, Spain), Frida Gilbert (Arcelor Mittal, France), Gabriele Ciaccio (Centro Ricerche FIAT, Italy), Hideharu Hashimukai (CEMEDINE, Japan), Holger Fricke (Fraunhofer IFAM, Germany), Jens Holtmannspötter (WIWeB, Germany), Jens Kosmann (DLR, Germany), Jesus Mediavilla Varas (M2i, Netherlands), Josh Sherwood (Henkel, USA), Jun Que (Sika, Switzerland), Junying Zhang (Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China), Kimiyoshi Naito (NIMS, Japan), Koji Kamiyama (Mitsubishi Electric, Japan), Matthias Geistbeck (Airbus, Germany), Maxime Olive (Rescoll, France), Nao Terasaki (AIST, Japan), Nicolas Carrere (ENSTA Bretagne, France), Patrick Peres (Airbus Safran Launchers, France), Philipp Weißgraeber (Robert Bosch GmbH, Germany), Rui Oliveira (BASF, Germany), Stefan Böhm (University of Kassel, Germany), Stefan Kreling (Airbus, Germany) and Yusuke Takahashi (Kobe Steel, Japan).
Authors who wish to make a presentation (oral or poster) are requested to submit a short abstract (one single A4 page possibly with a diagram and references) in English, by 5 November 2021. The abstracts should be sent electronically to lucas@fe.up.pt . The abstract template can be downloaded from the conference web site (www.fe.up.pt/iaa2022).
Conference proceedings (CD-ROM) with the accepted abstracts will be available at registration. The CD-ROM will have an ISBN number.

Full length papers will be published in special issues of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering (SAGE), Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering (SAGE), Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science (SAGE) and in a book of the book series Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering (SPRINGER) (provided they meet the quality standards). The full length papers (not compulsory) should be sent to lucas@fe.up.pt before the 3rd of March 2022.
